How much will it cost to operate a Thermodex

unit?

All units are designed to draw as little as 10 watts, up to 30 watts when operating at maximum. Assuming $0.10 per kWh, a continuously running unit at low speed will cost you less than $15/year; at maximum speed it will be less than $45.00 per year to operate.

What room heights can the Thermodex operate

in?

Coming out of the box, the TIR-100. TIR-104, and TTW- 201 are set for an 8’ height ceiling. The unit is easily adapted for heights between 86” and 103”.

Can Thermodex be used in rooms with ceilings

higher than 103” such as cathedral ceilings?

Yes Thermodex can be used in rooms with ceilings higher than 8’ by adding the optional extender adapters.

What is included in a Thermodex unit?

All necessary components are provided in the package. For the TIR-100 and TIR-104 you will need a drill and screwdriver, for the TTW-201 you will also need a saw.

Why is Thermodex more effective than ceiling

fans?

Ceiling fans are designed primarily to create air turbulence over a narrow region. Typically a ceiling fan creates a turbulent region of air shaped like a cylinder having a diameter of 6’ or less. Thermodex on the other hand is designed to move air from ceiling and floor while also creating horizontal flows at floor level.

Why is moving air from ceiling to floor

important?

Hot air tends to pool near the ceiling. It is not unusual to have as much as an 18° F  (10° C)  difference in temperature between floor and ceiling in a room during the winter. The overheated ceiling air can be used to temper the cold air near the floor without needing to raise the thermostat.

Does air movement over a person’s skin

actually improve comfort levels and can save

energy?

It is well recognized that the air moving over skin produces a cooling effect often referred to as “wind chill effect”, typically air movement in a room could allow the setting of air conditioning thermostat 4° F higher resulting in significant energy savings.

Does Thermodex reduce temperature

stratification in spaces?

A recent independent study has shown that within minutes of operation ”the device consistently reduces the temperature difference between the ceiling and floor by 50%”.
